High Art

This is NOT a goofy picture of a weird little dude in an empty room! It's a highly sophisticated experiment of shape, colour, and composition! Dammit! Done while I was taking a break! Okay??!!

A Short Background of the Background for My Short

Right, so I've been tinkering around with this idea for a Short for a while now. Actually, it was an idea for a pitch, and this short kinda grew out of it. And now I'm planning on spinning a pitch off the short. Anyway, this the BG where most of the action will take place. Well, the action for the short. The pitch will have it's own locations and stuff. Eventually, I'll probably have to shorten the pitch. Hell, I may even end up pitching the short. Got all that?

Really?

Well then, could you explain it to ME...?

January 2nd 2007, us lucky folk here at Fatkat walked into our recently renovated spankin' new studio! Gene sez she ain't done yet (which would explain the costruction guys around), but I took a few pictures this week so's ya'll could take a look. It's not usually that empty in there; I took the pictures in the morning. The last one is of my workstation. Mr. Neat.....

Drawing Jam: Viking Theme!

I did this for a recent drawing jam at work; the theme was Vikings, so I did Odin. He's not really a "viking" per se, but he is the major Norse god, so I guess you could say he's THE Viking. This drawing was a bit different for me, since most of my stuff I draw on paper, scan, and then manipulate it digitally. This bad boy though, I drew straight into Flash, which I don't do as often as you may think someone who spends all day in the program would.

If that makes any sense.

Even if it doesn't, enjoy the picture.

The Wonderful World of Notepad Doodles

As the title says; stuff I drew on notepads. The top two are me having fun with the Dark Crystal; I still have vivid memories of them showing us that movie in grade school, a double feature with Nosferatu. Can you imagine showing a bunch of grade school kids Nosferatu? Yeesh. 'Course back then we had to battle vampires on the way to school all the time, not to mention the giant ants....

...back on the topic, I liked the way the Mystic turned out, but the Chamberlain there is looking a bit goofy. Not threatening at all. Kinda like a turkey with a scimitar. Although, come to think of it, a turkey with a scimitar would be kinda scary. Like when I was a kid, and we had to fight chickens armed with flails. Or did we construct flails and name them after chickens.....?

....back on the topic, bottom left is something I drew with a sharpie when I was listening to a lot of Diana Krall. Not that the drawing LOOKS like Diana Krall. But you can imagine her maybe SOUNDING like Diana Krall. If drawings made sounds. Which they don't. On the other hand, people usually don't name mock medeival weaponry after barnyard foul either. I don't exactly remember why we did. It had something to do with the video game "Altered Beast", which we played on our Sega Master System. When weren't fighting vampires. Or Turkeys. Or Ants.

...lastly does anyone remember the the movie "Doctor Detroit"? Dan Aykroyd playing a guy pretending to be a pimp? He wore a wig? And glasses? And a gauntlet? The guy from "Head of the Class" was in it? What kinda name is "Arvid" anyway?

Well, the last drawing is not of Dan Aykroyd. But it's meant to evoke the wacky zaniness of the film.

I hope you found this educational. Profound insights don't just grow on trees y'know.

The Shenani-Signal!

Andrew "Beans" Embury, a guy I work with at the studio, did this up. I thought it was pretty cool. If I can figure out how to do it, I'm a gonna make it my ID picture, dagnabbit! or , possibly, dulgurnit! I'll see if I can get them to put it on a giant spotlight for me, while I'm at it....

Angry Rat Guy!

Did some voice work not too long a ago for a game one of the guys here at the studio is doing up. It was a lot of fun, it's been a while since I've done any kind of an acting thing. It's an adventure game, so it was all "Agghh! Slay them! You shall Die!" and stuff like that. Any hoo, I was diggin' through some papers and found this sketch I did of my character. The design has changed since then, but I still thought it was kinda fun. I wouldn't mind doing some more voice work at some point, if the opportunity came up. Hell, I may even ask.

Cheers
